Yup, read all the bad reviews. I always take it with a grain of salt. However, very crowded camping stalls, no secure place to moor your boat. If you have a 1975 19 Trailer with no slides you could possibly fit beach front, oh forgot 90% of beach front sites are not available due to rental units owned by Wrights Beach. They have (dusty) gravel roads that are plagued with nasty wash board ruts, huge trenches dug for speed control. The beach is very small, most of the beach front campers have invaded that by 8am. We had very inconsiderate and noisy neighbors, made a noise complaint and took 48 hours to have a guy come by and ask if I was the problem, after I sent a follow up email the next morning, obviously he couldnt read. Weve camped in the Area for over ten years, what a disappointment.
This place has it all in the way of campgrounds. We paid only $5 more per night, so $52 I think per night, for a shaded site. It has great showers and a wonderful little store. I gave it a 4 because it has THE WORST ENTRANCE SIGN from the hwy. We missed it completely and had to turn around on the hwy. Another great thing is they played a movie outside for the kids. Not sure if this was every night but it's an excellent idea. Great campground for families and it's right along the lake.
When I first arrived I was met at the door by a young lady who clearly does not enjoy her job. She seemed to be annoyed by the fact I was trying to rent a (very overpriced, over $50 for non electric) campsite, Or maybe it was the fact that I showed up 20 minutes before her shift had ended. That's all fine and good, maybe she had a bad day, anyways get told my site number, and it's dark out, Recieved very little direction to find my campsite. So it took a while in the dark. We spend sometime cruising around looking for it, the grounds are fairly full and the RVs are nearly parked on top of each other with literally an extra inch or 2 left at the end of their awnings before the next RV. We end up finding our campsite and it's literally right beside the highway, only maybe 40 feet away. We get to sleep and get woken up repeatedly by vehicles as loud as an airplane. There's nearly no chance you will be able to sleep after 6am unless you are one of the heaviest sleepers I have ever heard of. I feel like I would have been better off throwing up a tent at the end of the runway at the nearest airport. Complete waste of money. I gave it 2 stars because maybe if you are lucky enough to get a site far enough away from the highway and close enough to see the lake it may be more enjoyable, even tho you would still be sleeping about a foot away from your neighbor.
Tight sites. Have to ask others to move vehicles to get in or out. Very busy. Roads are little rough. Fully serviced and on the lake. Getting out of campground onto highway can be a challenge.
There is a fee for everything to stay there! They take the fun out of camping that's for sure! Wanna be warden kathy goes around at 10:30pm checking if you are even whispering and telling us to keep it down or kicked out!! Everything overpriced to stay there! Used to be good at one time but has gone down hill. Lots better places to stay in Penticton for less money and much more freedom and fun. We will never stay at wrights beach ever again!!
